The purpose-built facility in Dudley gives Sturge maximum integration of the manufacturing processes. The chain is manufactured, and quality controlled in-house at the centrally located factory, which also houses it’s metal slitting and plating facilities.
Ball chains have an almost endless amount of use and are commonplace, both domestically and commercially, from operating chains for all major blinds systems, pull chains on lamps and ceiling fans, swing tags to jewellery. Brass ball chain provides a strong rust-resistant chain, which is ideal for sanitary applications and can be used in medium to lightweight vertical blinds. This chain is available in a variety of finishes including raw brass, nickel-plated and chrome plated brass. The raw brass chain can be supplied with an optional additional tarnish resistant lacquer to ensure that the chain does not lose its colour over time.
Stainless steel provides a heavy-duty ball chain intended for use in industrial and hard-wearing applications. This chain is ideal for applications that may come into contact with corrosive materials or will be put under heavier strain such as within large blind systems. This chain comes with a polished stainless-steel finish to enhance its appearance.
Mild steel provides a durable and very cost-effective ball chain. It can be used in a wide range of different applications including keychains and lightweight blinds. This material is not resistant to moisture when exposed to it over long periods of time and should not be used within humid or marine applications. This chain is available in nickel plate and chrome plate finishes.
Sturge has developed, tested, and manufactured their sturge29+ Antimicrobial infection control ball chain to combat the transfer of harmful bacteria across surfaces. The Antimicrobial Copper has a rapid, broad-spectrum efficacy against bacteria and viruses, ideal for hygienic environments like hospital, nursing homes and surgeries. This chain is commonly used on blinds, light pulls, tags and sink plugs where hygiene is critical, particularly effective against E.coli and SARS-CoV-2 as well as a multitude of other contaminants.

These are used for connecting two lengths of ball chain together or creating endless ball chain loops. The pliers cut the chain and also open and close the beads. We have pliers available for all sizes within our ball chain range – Watch the operating video
Open beads are attached to the ends of chain lengths to act as a stopping device. These allow the chain to be used in blind controls and other mechanical systems and prevent the chain from being completely pulled through the system.
Connectors are used to join ball chain together to make loops. We have a range of connectors in a variety of different finishes and sizes to match our complete ball chain range.
Available in brass, stainless steel, and plastic in a variety of sizes and finishes.
These are used in joining ball chain to sanitary assemblies such as nut and stays to enable the chain to be used as a plug.
Similar to ‘N’ connectors these connect ball chain to a variety of different assemblies and applications.
